To,
The Chief Minister, Bihar
Date: - 03 January 2014
Subject:-Regarding blanket
increase in land tax
Sir,
The new land tax on 1st
January 2014 is not fair as there are only three tax slabs i.e. fully
commercial, residential and others. It may be reminded that there is land other
than the aforesaid three categories. There is land which is neither commercial
nor residential. There is no mention about the exemption for land unused or
disputed. Why should people pay tax if they are not using the land either way?
Why should people pay tax if their land is unused anyway due to legal dispute
and snail-paced judicial system? Why should the people pay fully commercial tax
if they are using the land for residential purposes? If one has inherited the
land at fully commercial zone and has no other place to live, what is their
fault and why should they pay fully commercial tax. The land tax must be
corroborated to the income tax file of the people. The new tax slab would rob
the people of fundamental right to live anywhere in the country as the helpless
and poor would be in huge debt resulting in snatching the land by government.
This would bring forced commercialization of simple thinking and moral living
persons.
The government is already
collecting various taxes for water, road, electricity sewerage, commercial
establishment, hoarding, offices, institutions and lot more; the land tax
should be somehow optional. If the government wants to practice communism, then
it should improve dispensation and then rob the people of entire moveable and
immovable properties.
There are many aspects of taxing
land but they all have not been taken into consideration which is sure to
boomerang during crucial political time.
During upcoming election the
recently launched tax table could become major factor of embarrassment.
I therefore, appeal you to
reconsider the extorting new tax rule.
I attach the new tax table.
